The Friends of the UP Public Library is delighted to host Shilo Brooks, President and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center and Professor at SMU. His talk “Reading Books Can Be Life-Changing,” about great books and how reading them can make us stronger, better people will be moderated by Ann Wicks who is the Don Evans Family Managing Director of the Opportunity and Democracy George W. Bush Institute. Fewer of us than ever are reading books for pleasure. Shilo Brooks is on a mission to change that. To that end, Brooks’ new podcast Old School features in-depth discussions with celebrities and scholars as to a classic book that changed their life.
The presentation will be held on Tuesday, June 2 in the UP Public Library 3rd Floor Community Room at 7pm. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30pm. The program is free and open to all but reservations are recommended.
This Meet Me at the Library Lecture is generously sponsored by Complete Landsculpture.
