Volunteers of the Year
The Diane Galloway Award
The Diane Galloway Award was first presented in 2001 to Diane as a commendation for her many years of leadership and service in the early years of the Library’s development.
Thank you and congratulations to each of our incredible Volunteers of the Year. Your commitment, creativity and leadership have made a lasting impact on our Library and the City of University Park!
We are delighted to recognize the following three individuals as our 2025 Volunteers of the Year!
April Bigby
A long-term Friends Board member, April played an instrumental role in 2025 in researching a new membership platform and then spending weeks of her time receiving feedback from Directors about which data was relevant and what reports needed to be developed to make future members and Directors’ lives easier, and then, transitioning data from the old platform to the new one, developing a new website. She made the difficult seem easy and the impossible achievable and actually achieved.
Clay Ewing
A junior at Highland Park High School, Clay has volunteered for over a year at twice-monthly programs for elementary students. Clay is incredibly patient and kind in his interactions with children, and is always willing to pitch in any way he can. He helps our elementary programs to run smoothly and makes them a great experience for everyone!
Renée French
A retired library worker from Hamilton Public Library in Hamilton, Texas, and temporarily relocated to University Park in 2025 to reside with her daughter, Renee began volunteering with us as a weekly shelver. Renée is kind, generous with her time, and always willing to lend a hand. Although she has returned to Hamilton, her short stay has made a lasting impact. Despite being a temporary resident, she sought out our library as a place to contribute, and we are deeply grateful for the enthusiasm and dedication she has shared with us.
