The Friends of the University Park Public Library is thrilled to announce that Second Chapter Bookstore will be popping up again this year, opening its doors on Saturday, October 15 from 10am-4pm. Second Chapter will sell gently used, donated books, with proceeds benefiting the University Park Public Library.

Conceived during 2020's quarantine, Second Chapter Bookstore became a staple in our community in both 2020 and 2021, allowing patrons, neighbors, and volunteers to come together and share a love of books. We are thrilled to continue what we started for our third year.

Second Chapter will be popping up in the same space at 6916 SNIDER PLAZA, next to East Hampton Sandwich Co. and Short Stop. The store will be in operation from October 15 to January 28 on Tuesday (10-2pm), Thursday (10-2pm) and Saturday (10-4pm).

This reopening would not have been possible without our dedicated board members, city officials, and community members who generously donated their time, resources, and expertise to make this a reality. We look forward to welcoming you back to our updated space and sharing our love of books and reading!

Want to Help Us By Volunteering?

Second Chapter Bookstore is a volunteer-driven space that needs dedicated volunteers to staff the running of the store on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm, and Saturdays between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm . If you have ever dreamed of working in a bookstore, here is your chance! Shifts are 2 hours in length and entail stocking and organizing the shelves, accepting book donations, welcoming patrons and processing payments for any books purchased. As a community-focused space, we would love for our volunteers to engage with the patrons that pass through the store and be ready to share more information about the Friends of the UP Public LIbrary. To sign up for shifts, please email us for info:

From time to time, there will be opportunities to sort books categorically as donations are received. If you have interest in working in this capacity, please reach out to to see what the current needs are for book sorting.
