Diane Galloway Volunteers of the Year The Diane Galloway Award was first presented in 2001 to Diane as a commendation for her many years of leadership and service in the early years of the library’s development. We are delighted to recognize the following three individuals as our 2024 Volunteers of the Year! Joben Singh, Senior, Highland Park High School Joben dedicated over 100 hours to design and construct four rolling book carts for the Friends of the UP Public Library. Through his leadership and passion for literacy, he successfully raised $580 to fund the project and guided a team of 20 enthusiastic Boy Scouts in bringing these carts to life. Jordan Wallingford, Sophomore, Ursuline Academy With over 60 hours of dedicated service to the Second Chapter Bookstore and the Library, Jordan’s passion for reading has been a driving force behind her impactful contributions to the Friends of the University Park Public Library. Jordan also played a crucial role in our annual Book Art Class, meticulously preparing materials to elevate the participants’ creativity. Always ready to lend a helping hand, her enthusiasm and commitment have made a lasting impression on our community. Miranda McParlin, Sophomore, Highland Park High School Miranda has channeled her passion for literature into impactful projects for youth in our community. Building on her summer 2023 work, this summer Miranda led and implemented the "Little Artists" program at the UP Public Library. Each session began with a story about a renowned artist such as Kandinsky and Kusama, followed by a hands-on project that encouraged imaginative expression. In addition, Miranda continues to faithfully maintain a project she pioneered in 2021: the Children’s Book Recommendation Board display on the floor of the library. Thank you and congratulations to each of our incredible Volunteers of the Year. Your commitment, creativity and leadership have made a lasting impact on our library and the City of University Park! | Volunteer of the Year
